let us make new things

a video poem
i am always making things but it isn’t always sweet
it’s scattered and disorganized— it’s pineapples in the street
i wish Suzanne would take me to that place near the river—— but i don’t know her
i get distracted by tea and oranges
i get distracted by who i was— and who i may be
i get distracted
there’s too much to look at
why must everything that isn’t this ——seem so appealing?
i want to love my art, my stories all the way
with the intensity of forbidden love, of new love
anything can be new again if we practice forgetting
i’m good at it
i can show you where to hide sorrow under the sheets of tomorrow
and regret behind the wreckage of never again
but backwards or forwards— ain’t where it’s at
the good stuff is in the here and now
so let us notice the beautiful things
so let us make new things
so let us show the world who we are

Discussion about this podcast

how to love the world
i wrote this for you
I write poems and stories. I read poems and stories. Are they really for you? Of course!
Everything I create is for me, for them
and for you.
