how free is free?

poetry
i’m watching this wild and
you say you want it to stick
but i dunno
hey man, don’t be like that
sleeping through my poem
waiting for my mind to catch up with my heart
apple martinis really got it’s time and place, huh?
i swear i’ve felt this bitter on your tongue
before
maybe it wasn’t you
what if i sleep here tonight?
what if i climb your tree tonight?
what if i hop over the cow and not the moon tonight?
thinkin’ my mind won’t ever
catch up with my heart
wonderin’ if sense is ever
made
when all i can see is the dirty dashboard
thank god, i can’t remember that thing i wanted to say
‘cause did i really want to say it anyway?
i can give you yesterday if you want it
even though it’s gone gone gone
but forget about tomorrow, k?
I mean, come on, we know what’s what
and that’s okay
i can see the future
order me up with swipe right
delivered to your door in 20 minutes
or less
or
i’m free
and it feels free, don’t it?
(for awhile)
but really i’ll be trapped unspecial
in a mass of too many choices
we’re lucky with this here and now
so let’s enjoy it here and now
(and enjoy it later again in soft focus)
because one day we’ll have to upload a mate
and pretend it was fate

How to Love the World
i wrote this for you
I write poems and stories. I read poems and stories. Are they really for you? Of course!
Everything I create is for me, for them
and for you.
