today the sun almost forgets to set
the day stretches its limbs
like it owns the sky
the light spills, stumbles,
sprawls across everything
like a guest who won’t go home
we can learn from this day
we can
overtake the dark
overtake the dread
overtake the memory that hums at midnight
overtake the silence that swells too loud
shine through the cracks
shine on the forgotten
shine where the shadows gather
shine on lost socks/fancy frocks
crooked frames/lost fame
the places no one bothers to dust
more light than shadow
more wonder than weariness
more gold than gray
today, the sun stays
today, we stay with it
we hold the light like a secret
like a song half-remembered
like a promise we meant to keep
Happy Solstice!
XO, Annie

What a beautiful poem. This line really grabbed me.
"the places no one bothers to dust".
