Happy Halloweenie! ๐
Hereโs my monster contribution for your Halloween pleasure.
I co-wrote this film with my bestie, Melisa, during lockdown on Zoom while I was in L.A. and she was in Washington State. Directed by Peter Arpesella.
Nessie & Bessie was an official selection in the Bitesize Film Festival!
Hereโs a little backstory and the film. Enjoy!
The Tale of Nessie & Bessie (as told by Nessie)
Iโm real. Like, really real.
The year is 1933. A loaf of bread is 7 cents, Yoko Ono is born and someone takes my picture WITHOUT MY PERMISSION!
Freakinโ paparazzi. Thatโs what I initially thought but turns out it was just a human Scottish couple passing by my lake. They thought they saw a dragon in the lake (me, Iโm the dragon) so they screamed, Lookie there! A dragon! and took my photograph. I went under the water like STAT!
The couple went off to report the sighting to the Scottish newspaper. After the paper printed that infamous photograph of me, tons of folks claimed to have seen me. Like, for many, many years.
But some people had the nerve, THE NERVE, to call me a HOAX! Well, listen here, humans, I ainโt no hoax. Iโm for real. Oh, and thereโs one other thingโฆ
I have a sister.
When that couple took my photo, my twin sister, Bessie, was under the water diving for plankton so she missed all the excitement. We were super close, being twins and all. We spent every moment together, swimming and playing in the water. For us, the entire world was just us in the water, living out our happy days.
We were always so good about staying under and away from prying human eyes but on that particular day, I was feeling restless. I just really needed to feel the sun on my face.
The spotlight became my new sun.
What can I say? I loved being famous! I loved playing the hide and seek game with the humans. Now you see me, now you donโt!
But, you see, I got so caught up in all of the attention that I lost sight of the most important thing.
Bessie drifted away. And I let her.
Itโs been 86 years now, and I guess with the pandemic and all the changes 2020 brought us, it got me thinking. So, I sent Bessie a Zoom invite.
She accepted!
Now, everyone can finally know the truth about the Loch Ness monster.
I meanโฆ monsterS.
