Note 1 - Remember Rest

am i doing all the things that need doing?
i don’t know
i never know
did you see the sky today?
it’s bright turquoise
and i love it
 it reminds me of the roller skates i painted in 1988
skates so joyous i could cry
i skated past a cute long haired boy on the Venice boardwalk
                  and i fell
 and i got up
                 and i stayed up (for a time)
and i fell again
                  and i got up again
                 and i stayed up (for a time)
and so it goes
                  i always get back up
 and i always keep going
                ( and so do you )
OH! Did you see the superbloom on the hill?
yellow and orange are my favorite
my eyes fill up warm
sometimes it’s just dirt
but we need dirt
dirt is earth
earth is where the flowers grow
i tried to climb a hill but i couldn’t get my footing
yes i kept slipping
yes i got back up 
yes i slipped again
            (yes you know the drill)
 remember when you were a kid and you were afraid of quicksand?

i’ve never even met a quicksand

and i woke up sad
but i painted a turquoise sky anyway
maybe i don’t need to do so much doing
maybe i can be some being 
did you see the sky today?
it’s bright turquoise
and i love it
